About the position
The Public Diplomacy Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy program, representational events and social media accounts. The position takes a whole-of-government approach to promote Australia’s profile in Mexico and eight other countries of accreditation.
In this role you will have responsibility for managing, coordinating and executing small to large-scale events, to support the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy program. This includes, but is not limited to end-to-end planning, logistics, vendor coordination, guest management, and post-event evaluations.
The Public Diplomacy Officer manages the Embassy’s social media activities, alumni networks, developing opportunities for cultural and sporting exchange, and promoting Australia and the work of the Australian Embassy in Mexico. The role also assists with coordinating communication with diplomatic missions and key internal and external stakeholders. The Public Diplomacy Officer provides back-up for the Head of Mission (HOM) Executive Assistant. This role may be required to work outside of normal business hours and outside of Mexico City
Additional Information
This position requires a probity check to be completed. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT probity check. Probity checks can take some time to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate check is confirmed. There is no guarantee that the successful candidate for the position will be successful in obtaining a probity check. The inability to obtain a probity check prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a probity check at any time will lead to termination of employment.
In addition, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires all local employees, Mexican nationals or foreigners to obtain accreditation in order to perform work services for foreign entities and International Organizations. The accreditation will be requested by the Embassy once the successful candidate is identified.
Work Authorization Requirements
This position is open to individuals with work permission in Mexico who speak both Spanish and English.
